6 Startups Take the Spotlight at STARTup Showcase
Six innovative startups took center stage at our first-ever STARTup Showcase, highlighting their journeys and achievements over the course of the 8-week START program. During the program, founders worked tirelessly to conduct customer interviews, refine their problem-solution fit, and lay the foundation for future growth.
Despite the frigid -30°C evening, the event drew an impressive crowd of around 100 attendees. The energy filled the room as founders wrapped up the program by presenting their hard work, connecting with potential customers, and building valuable relationships. Attendees also had the opportunity to network and foster new connections within the vibrant entrepreneurial community.
The success of the Cultivator START program demonstrates the strength of our thriving ecosystem and the incredible support from guest mentors, speakers, and judges. Here’s a look back at the founders’ journeys leading up to this memorable event!
The founders dedicated themselves to applying everything they had learned, working diligently to ensure their solutions were both customer-driven and problem-solving. Before the event, three esteemed guest judges conducted internal judging sessions, carefully evaluating each startup.
Later that evening, they crowned the grand prize winner, who took home an impressive $10,000 in cash, $5,000 in legal services from McKercher LLP, and—and for the first time —$5,000 in development services from OpenPath Partners.
Second place earned $2,500 in cash, and the audience played an exciting role by voting for their favourite company, awarding them a $1,000 cash prize.
