Agribition 2022: Not our first rodeo
On November 30, Cultivator powered by Conexus represented the AGTECH ACCELERATOR at the Grain Expo + Indigenous Ag Summit. We hosted two insightful panels with friends in the industry and colleagues from Conexus Credit Union.
Giddyup, and hold on tight — this is more than an 8-second r̶i̶d̶e̶ recap!
Grain Expo
Cultivator powered by Conexus was a proud sponsor of the Grain Expo and had the opportunity to lead a session on the main stage. Breanne Dmytriw (Community Coordinator at Cultivator ) mc’d the segment and welcomed a Cohort 1 Alumni founder from the AGTECH ACCELERATOR (Jason McNamee, Chief Product Officer, Senior Biogeoscientist, and Co-Founder of Lucent Biosciences) to share his company and knowledge with the audience. Lucent Biosciences has developed a zero-waste manufacturing process that binds nutrients to cellulose. This new material, ‘soileos,’ has unique properties and characteristics that prevent run-off or tie-up and improve yields, plant health, and crop quality.
Next was the panel: ‘Farmers, Founders, and the Future of Agtech,’ moderated by Ami Caragata (AGTECH ACCELERATOR Program Coordinator at Cultivator ) explored the intricacies of how founders and farmers work together to create innovative solutions to accelerate the agriculture industry. The future of Canadian agtech is proliferating. There is no better time than now and no better place than Saskatchewan to lead the growth of agtech around the globe.
Ami was joined by a two-time agtech founder (Kyle Folk, Founder & CEO of Ground Truth Ag) and a lifelong producer (Brady Fahlman, Owner & Operator of Fahlman Acres) as they discussed the benefits and challenges of bringing new technologies to the farm. This was an engaging panel that shared different viewpoints from their position in the indutry. The audience was captivated by the flow of conversation and had many thought-provoking questions for the panelists.
This panel was featured in the Regina Leader-Post, quoting Kyle Folk: “This is ground-zero for agriculture. Ag is sexier today than it’s ever been.”
